Dog Behaviour Skills - 12th September Does you walk your dog or does your dog walk you? Do you control your dog or does your dog control you? Does your dog respond when you call or does he or she ignore you? Martin Gladow, who has many years of experience in both rescue and behavioual work and who holds a Certificate in Canine Behaviour and Psychology will be with us on the above date to share his expertise and give advice. Groups will be limited to a maximum of 5 people, and the cost per person is £40. Participants must be staying on site for a minimum of 2 nights. Photography Skills - 8th and 9th October 2013 Stewart Smith, a local professional photographer with a stunning portfolio of Lakeland images, will join us on the above dates to support, guide and help you get the best from your camera. Stewart will use his knowledge of the local area to select the best locations from a variety of landscapes, which could include beach, sea, sand dunes, fells, woodland, mountains and rivers. You will also have some free time so that you can practice what you have learnt. Each group will be limited to a maximum of 10 people. Whether you are looking to develop your technical skills or gain an insight into image composition, this will be a great opportunity to gain an insight into the skills and knowledge of a professional Lake District photographer. You will need to bring your own camera which can be a compact digital, a digital bridge, digital SLR or film SLR. Navigation Skills - 19th and 20th September Head to the Hills are a registered National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) training centre, based in Ambleside, Cumbria. A qualified mountain leader and guide will join us on site on the above dates to provide a Mountain Navigation and Map Reading Course for beginners. This is a great introduction to those new to navigation skills, or for the more experienced walkers as an introduction to a recognised qualification. On completion of the course you should be able to plan and follow countryside walks with a good understanding of map features and route planning. Each group will be limited to a maximum of 12 people. The guide will provide a warm friendly welcome together with structured expert tuition lots of fun and loads of information throughout the 2 days. Both days will start at 09.30, day one ends at 16.30 and day two ends at 16.00, there will be breaks for drinks and food. On booking you will be given a list of necessary equipment and clothing to bring on the course. The cost per person is £89 for the 2 days and participants must stay on site for a minimum of 3 nights.
